Obligatory Apology Included

Posted by Adam Heine @ October 21, 2006, 2:09 AM (PST) — Filed under:

Once again, I must apologize for posting less than I would like to. I realize most of you are thinking, “Who cares? Don’t worry about it.” But I’m a fan of commitments. I fully expect the slow posting to end once we have internet in our house, but very little seems to be happening on that end, through no fault of our own. On the plus side, posting only once in a great while forces me to get to the point on what we’re doing.

A couple of weeks ago, I went in to Im Jai to talk to Dave, my boss and the husband of the couple that handles volunteer staff. I told him that it was getting too difficult to hold what was essentially two fulltime jobs: computer maintenance and homeschooling father – especially for two kids who really need a father. His response was, “I’ve been wondering when you would talk to me about that.” So our current solution is for me to come in only one day a week, and then only if there is work for me to do.

That means that most of my days are spent here at home. We’re still trying to find exactly what my role is here. In the meantime, I’ve been helping Cindy with teaching wherever I see it needed, fixing things around the house, and writing. Honestly, I think that my job will continue to be like this until Baby Heine joins us in the world, at which point all this extra time I have will be desperately needed.

Cindy, of course, is teaching. She is slowly getting more settled and satisfied with the way school is going, though there’s a lot more she wants to do. Matthew has been doing well here. He takes a Tech Ed class at the local international school, history and literature at a homeschool co-op we go to, and everything else here at home. Sandra has also been doing well. She has improved tremendously from the time she came to live with us, but God’s not finished with her yet.

If you didn’t already know, Sean and Prang have moved into their own place. We still see them often enough. Sean’s still finishing projects at Im Jai while Prang is taking English classes.

That’s the quick rundown of our lives presently. I’m looking forward to getting internet here, getting the kid’s computer fixed (it’s in the shop – apparently they don’t know what’s wrong either), maybe finishing my book, and then of course to the craziness and fun and sleeplessness and joy that will be December.

Update

Posted by Sean Abbott @ October 4, 2006, 11:33 PM (PST) — Filed under:

I don’t remember the last time I wrote on this blog. But I am still here. Infact the way life changes so fast around here sometimes I don’t know which end is up and I don’t know how it all happened. I don’t know where to start but as most of you know I did get married on July 19th. Please if you haven’t seen any pictures there are plenty that Adam took and put here on this site. You can also view my website at www.snabott.com I just put it up on the web. It just shows a little bit of what’s going on in my life and things that have happened. It also has a link so you can see some of the construction projects I have been busy with. Also some more very good news. Not more than a couple weeks after our honey moon Prang found out that she is pregnant. So sometime around April of 2007 we will be parents too. You know when we fist got married and got back from our honey moon, rented a house and started our new life together. I was thinking along the lines of “OK, now what.” But after we found out Prang was pregnant I started feeling like we actually got married for a reason. That our life together wasn’t just “OK, now what.” I don’t want to say I love her more now because she is carrying my child. Because I already loved her to begin with. But I can say that I realize how much I do love her. We are both really excited to be able to start a family together. It’s also real cool that Adam and Cindy’s baby and our baby will only be about four months apart. So with all these changes not only my life but also in Adam and Cindy’s life; who knows what’s around the corner. Maybe one of you who are reading this will end up out here getting married and having kids(Well you single people of course). Hey look at me. A year and a half ago if you would have come to me and said, “Sean in a year and a half you will be living in Thailand married to a Thai women and she will be pregnant with your first baby.” I would have said you were crazy. But actually it’s funny because I know about a dozen people who actually said that to me before I left the states. And here I am. And here we are. We left as three (Adam, Cindy and myself). Now we have six (Prang, Mathew and Sandra). And soon we will have eight. So if you want to jump on the wagon please come out and join us. Well I don’t know if it’s a wagon. It’s more of a magic carpet ride. Anything’s possible.

I Feel Like I Do This a Lot

Since we moved to Thailand in April of 2004, we have lived in no less than five homes. Here are some pictures from the fifth. This one’s my favorite so far. Probably because all the stuff in it is ours. That picture gallery is captioned for your convenience.
